Basal Cell Carcinoma
- A common type of skin cancer occurring on the eyelid or skin around the eyes
- Caused by high exposure to sunlight
- Begins as a small, raised growth
- Classic appearance is a nodule with a pitted centre
- Does not cause discomfort, but if advanced, may cause distortion the lid
- Needs to be surgically excised by an ophthalmologist as soon as possible
